Rachel is a valuable member of our CV Network, she is driven and full of energy, always with a smile on her face and is always willing to help others in the community. She has been on quite a journey; to get her where she is today and the stories and experiences that is able to share with others can inspire anybody to believe that they too could make positive lifestyle changes and turn things around.
She has been working with CV for many years in various different roles after we met her at the Impact Boxing Gym in Fenton, which happened to be where the local community group used to meet. After hearing what the community were up to, she was keen to get involved and eventually came to be the Chairperson of the East Fenton Does Matter Partnership where she contributed towards many community projects & events and made a real impact in her neighbourhood.
Her main interests and passion has always been sports and working with young people, she achieved a Level 2 sports Leadership qualification and her love for Boxing has led to her setting up and leading boxing clubs for young people in the community. Her ability and experience of delivering these sessions have then led to her being hired by local youth organisation Engage Communities to take the lead on a Big Lottery & Sport England funded ladies boxing project called This Girl Can. The project was a huge success and she was also supporting other young coaches to learn how they can deliver sessions and manage projects.
This summer she has been employed by the Stoke City Community Trust as a team leader to deliver their Nation citizenship service. She will be helping young people to develop their skills and confidence along with the community development necessary to deliver their own social action projects in the future.
Rachel has been working in the community for a few years now and enjoys making a positive contribution in the city, she has a wealth of experience, which she is applying to create these opportunities, she has dreams of one day working full time offering support to young people.
